| Transition, a Normal Part of Life
Transition is a normal ingredient of human development. This natural phenomenon begins at conception and terminates upon one's death. Transitions can be emotionally exciting, fearful, stressful or frustrating, a time of change and uncertainties. Therefore as Educators and Child Advocates, we must ensure that our children and families experience a positive transition into our programs and a positive exit from our programs.
A positive collaboration between all educational entities and community leaders will achieve the preceeding goal through the development of a centralized curriculum that will facilitate the skills and maturity that is essential in a successful transition.
An unknown author eloquently captured the essence of transition when he stated:
"When a seedling is transplanted from one place to another, the transplantation may be a stimulus or a shock. The careful gardener seeks to minimize shock so that the plant is reestablished as easily as possible."
