Foundation for Early Childhood Education, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, providing child care services to low income families.  The child care services include a quality education and nutrition program.  Foundation receives funds from the Los Angeles County Office of Education Head Start / State Preschool Division.  In addition, the California Department of Education provides funds for a state Preschool program, General Child Care & Development program, and Nutrition services.

Foundation's Head Start program currently provides services to over 1700 three (3) to five (5) year old children and their families.  Services provided are:

Foundation for Early Childhood Education, Inc., State General Child Care & Development program provides Infant/Toddler and Preschool child care services.

Head Start

What is Head Start?

Head Start is a free part-day program (at least 3 1/2 hours) child development program for low income and disabled preschool children.  Head Start generally operates from September to June and serves 3 to 5 years old children from low income families residing in the local community, with priority given four year old children.  Priority are also given to children who are in families that are most in need, including families at risk and/or in crisis, and children with disabilities.  Head Start's comprehensive services includes social, health, mental health, nutrition, and parent involvement.

** Some Head Start Programs operate a full day for income eligible parents needing to maintain employment, meet work participation requirements, or participate in education or job training.




California State Preschool

What is California State Preschool?

California State Preschool is a free part day (3 1/2 hours) comprehensive child development program which generally operates from September through June.  The program serves 3 to 4 year old children from low income families residing in the local community.  Priority are given to children in families with open cases with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), as space is available.  State Preschool provides free meals and snacks to children enrolled in the program and also provides education parents and encourage them to participate in the program. 

** Some California State Preschool Programs operate a full day for income eligible parents needing to maintain employment, meet work participation requirements, or participate in education or job training.
